Sunflowers or Corn?

This sunflower field is a corn field. The second picture is from the west side and you can actually see the corn. The bean picture is from east of Grand Junction. Some say it is a disease "Sudden Death something or other" Another thought is the beans are losing their leaves due to the cool weather, even though they aren't mature enough. This field was probably one of the earliest planted. Another field east of town has a few brown, similar spots.

  1. David said it is called sudden death and if you notice it is mainly in the low areas. It is from the cool, wet season that we have had. and NO Dan, the sunflower field is not his :)

  2. It is where the dew accumulates first(low areas). The plants stay wetter longer, once it starts it will spread some 50' to 60' in all directions. It is due to the wet cold year.
