Lil' Rams win also!

Sunday Calvin's game was in Atlantic. I rode along as Dave is getting beans harvested. They won 34-6 or thereabout. Calvin was middle linebacker all the time and offensive back part of the time. Jeff and Ab went to homecoming coronation. Here he is ready to tackle their runner with Bryce ready to lend a hand.

Soccer today

Calvin had soccer today in Ogden. He had football practice before that. (He passed on deer hunting today. He decided that wasn't for him.) This level (5th and 6th graders) helped me to understand the play of the game better. (The coaches yelling where to go and what to do helped me too.) ___________________Last night the Rams beat Nevada 42-6. It was the first lopsided game they have had, so the subs got to get in to play some. Jeff started defense, as he has been doing, and got to play some offense when the reserves got in. He carried the ball once. The 6 points Nevada scored was when the subs were in so Jeff should have felt good about that too. __Isn't this a fancy goalie shirt?

No Deer-Yet.

Youth Deer Season started this weekend. Dan has a new hunter this year. (Jeff is now too old!) Teresa had warned Dan that this is a different person. Calvin is not a morning person. He is not quiet or patient. The deer weren't moving and they only saw one deer on the way into the stand Sat. morning. Dan enjoyed Calvin's unique curiosity and openness. "What's that noise?" "Where's the river?" "Why are we crossing the creek here?" ( Dan said he had never been ask if this waders were comfortable before.) ____ Next Sat. Dan plans to go out later in the morning and shoot at targets and try hunting in the afternoon, if weather and schedule allows. Hopefully Calvin's allergies will be a bit better too.

Rams 14-DCG 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a good game last night and it ended at the right time. The Rams were ahead! This picture was toward the end of the game when the defense was having to hold. They DID!

Monday-Thursday

Marg was here Sunday evening through Friday morning. She and Linda kept Mom busy with rides to Springlake and once out to the farm. Tuesday we lunched together at Uptowne Cafe and Wednesday was lunch here. Mom came here for lunch also. She is eating a bit, so a bit stronger. I'll go out in the next couple days to check on her and see how much see has to say about her week. ( I know she had a great time.)

Lil' Rams vs ADM

__Calvin's team lost 0-7 this afternoon. He played 4 different positions. Linebacker, offensive guard, center and quarterback for a couple plays when the regular quarterback was out. The team did pretty well. They should have some wins. More games to come.

Carroll 20-Jefferson12

The tables turned for the Rams today; too many penalties. Jeff had an interception that got called back because of a penalty. Plus others with receptions and good yardage gained and again called back with a penalty!!! (It seemed like flags were thrown on every play) I'm anxious to see the film and the newspaper write-up and get a count. Here is Abbey's outfit of the day...plus her little charge she was babysitting. Hope her other little boyfriend doesn't get jealous!

Jefferson 12-Carroll 7

But that is only the before half-time score with 1:36 to go, when the lights went out. The game will be resumed this afternoon starting at 1:00. The Iowa/Iowa State game starts at 11:00 and fans were quite upset at the early afternoon time that was set to complete the game. I just hope or team can continue with the momentum that they were playing with last night. Carroll is ranked 2nd in 3A. (But much better light for pictures!!!!)

7th Volleyball & Grandparents Day

We headed to Cedar Rapids on Thursday morning. We lunched with Dan in Williamsburg and joined Joan for Jill's first Volleyball game at Harding. There were 4 teams. The 3 "B" teams each played for 10 minutes. Jill was the hero of her team. She had 4 of 6 great serves and returned the ball twice for points. She used a new type of serve that they are teaching now. It has a name. It's kind of between an overhand and under hand serve. ( Kind of sidearm) It is effective for Jill. It's the new serve! We met Michael and Sadie and ate at Godfathers. On Friday afternoon it was 3rd grade Grandparents day at Pierce. We sit in on class. They did some work and interviewed the Grandparents about their 3rd grade experiences and reported on their findings. Sadie's Grandpa topped them all with riding his pony to school.

Class of '57

Monday evening the Lohrville class of '57 got together just for a visit. A couple of their classmates from out of state were back. This happens every couple years. An impromptu get-together works well for this group. Lorna Lawson came too and we enjoyed a good visit. Yesterday I worked the school election 11-9. Today, I catch-up around home, so we'll be ready for the next plans!!!!!

Happy birthday, Hilary

Yesterday was Hil's 19th birthday and she headed across country to visit friends and see a college football game. Today she was home resting (or I should say "vegging out") when we saw her. It sounds like the first week of college went fine. Here she is pictured on her graduation day with her sister and two cousins in front of the t-shirt quilt her Mom had made for her.

Lil' Rams

This afternoon Calvin's team had a couple scrimmages at the West Des Moines Valley stadium. Then they had their weigh in. At the 5th grade level, if they are over a certain weight, they aren't allowed to be the ball carrier. Calvin is # 36, but easiest to spot as he didn't wear his blue socks and has black shoes. He played 3 or 4 different positions, plus sub! It was a good day.

Rams Win!

The Rams claimed a victory against ranked (in 2A) Carroll Kuemper 20-6. Jeff played defense, but didn't have as many tackles. (But the saftey shouldn't be a leading tackler if things go well! He had a few, but was credited for 10 last game.) It was parents night with introductions of the players before the game and the cheerleaders, cross-country and swimmers at half-time.

JV Football

Jefferson 8 - Perry 6, that was the final score. Jeff got to play some offense last night for JV. Here are pictures of his touchdown. He would have had another, but got the ball knocked out of his hands as he was catching a pass.
