Basketball @ Ogden

They played at Ogden this morning.  Their first win this year!!!  58 - 26
He made 1 of 2 here.

Only 7 players today.  One injured, one ineligible, and one that had been gone and missed a week of practice and games and another celebrating a family Christmas.  The one that had been gone was suited though, probably just in case.  And a couple players, including Calvin had fouls adding up so he may have been needed.

Basketball @ Nevada

The starters....  short on players.  One gone this week, one injured and two others not dressed to play, why I can only guess.

Most Nevada players were bigger, that is seeming usual.

Subs got more playing time.  Problems with fouls. One fouled out and Calvin played with 4 from the third quarter on, but made it through the game and another got a technical, which put him on the bench for the rest of the game.  But not as bad a lose as Monday's game.

9th grade Basketball vs Prairie Valley

The first game of the season Tues. night.  Biggest problem was keeping his shirttail tucked in.

Made 1 0f 2 shots here.

He had started and played quite a bit.  Had a few points.  Here was toward the end of the game and the scored was tied.  Usually someone else took the ball out of bounds, but here he got the assignment.  They lost, but a good game.

Too much zoom and too little lighting for good pictures, but I keep shooting.

Hil and Nate were back this weekend.  She works next weekend when the actual dinner is planned.

Bentley on guard just in case David would happen to drop food!

Dinner is almost ready.

More people,  Jeff got out of the way.  He avoids pictures when possible. ( Calvin still dressed in layers since just returning from the Iowa game.)

Reminiscing, with Bentley in the center of things.

Sunday Drive

It was a quiet day around home so we decided to go on a tour.  First we headed up to the Paton area.  Needed to see where Bauer's new project was going to be.  Saw Ann and Jim Dunnigan leaving 209 Main, so visited briefly.  They had a Lindgren reunion.  Then decided we hadn't been to Doliver Park for a long time and of course I had my camera along.  Not may people there and most of the ones there were our age.  Then since we were close to Ft. Dodge shopped Menard's before heading back south.  Beautiful day!

Jeff was on the winning intramural flag football team at Drake.  I know they had lots of games and were undefeated.  He said they had 2 guys on the team faster than he is.  No wondered they were good!

First School Picture for 2013-24

Calvin. Ok, now we need Joan's girls and Liz and Matt should take some too.  I'm always happy to see big smiles.  Especially when front teeth are missing or braces have been add or removed.  If you enlarge this, you will see the braces are black and gold.  Figures for Calvin, the Iowa fan.  He needs to give a copy to his dentist.  (And I did this scan on our new printer.  It worked wonderfully.)

Final Football Game for 2013

The last 9th grade game of the year at St. Edmund's in Fort Dodge.  Lost 33 - 0.
Different coaches.  The regular coach was ill and the coach that had taken over when the regular coach had conferences had to practice the varsity.  (They won that one.)

Wish this would have been a clearer picture, but lots of zoom used.  (Couldn't embarrass the kid and go get a close-up.)

So one of the volunteer coaches and another took over.

This was taken by a friend at Thurs. nights game.  The 9th grad team plus 5 JV players.  Calvin caught a pass either in the endzone or close enough he got there-we were up in the stands and didn't have the best view.  He played a little JV in their game Tues.  The last 9th grade game is this next Thurs.  They won 30-15.  They were behind at the half and looked like a different team the second half.

Rams vs Kuemper Knights

Some of the upper classmen, that are JV reserves, got to play with the freshmen Friday night.  As a result Calvin played offense, but only a little defense.  He was one of the captains though.

No completed passes to him this game.

Got in on a little defense. They lost 0-8.
