Baseball Season Ends

Lost their last game by one point today, but had a winning season.  Here Calvin is doing one of his favorite things - threatening to steal!

Baseball @ Gilbert

One win, one loss at Gilbert yesterday.  They had forecast a hot day, but there was a breeze and a shade tree just off third base.  It didn't start getting too hot until by the end of the second game.  This is Calvin catching the start of the second game. 

The 2 final innings he was first baseman.  He had been center field the first game. 

He was holding the glove in place just waiting for this guy to step off.  Last game at Prairie Valley today.  Not quite as hot as yesterday, but it looks plenty still without wind. (And today we play another team with red shirts.)  

Thursday - Swim

_____Thursday night was another home swim meet.  Coach Jeff was there keeping people in line and where they needed to be for their events.  I read on facebook they had beaten Perry and broken three pool records!  I saw he kept timer in hand and would let individuals know their times.  _______Calvin's baseball games had been cancelled Thursday morning.  (Thank you, God, for the rain!)  I got a call about 10:00 Friday a.m. that they were making up the games at 11:00.  I was working Auxiliary, so wasn't able to attend.  Calvin played short, catcher and 3rd.  Next week I'm planning on getting to games.  Even cancelled out on bridge Monday!  Then baseball is over for this season. 

Tuesday Game, Thursday Cancelled

Two games Tuesday.  Two losses because of a couple bad innings.  Otherwise pretty good games.  Today's games were cancelled. Probably because of a wet field, as we had 1.2" of much needed rain last evening.

Father's Day

Supper at the Teresa's.  It was great.  Here the impatient kids are waiting to eat.

The fisherman!  Abbey had caught some and Hil, but they weren't biting much when we were there.

Bell Tower Festival

Our group was ready for the parade.  Pop was in the hospital and missed out this year.  He's home now and feeling better.  More pictures on facebook.....

Teresa helped raise funds for youth wrestling by spending 45 minutes in the dunk tank.  She was dunked many times.  She was wishing she had kept track of how much was raised just during her time.  (And the water was COLD)

Swim Meet vs Carroll

Second home swim meet tonight.  Jeff is assistant coach.  He likes it and works hard at the meet.  He was a hard working swimmer and expects his swimmers to work hard too.  I was working the election on Tuesday when they had their first meet.  They won that one.  I didn't stay around long enough tonight to see the final score.  Carroll was ahead when I left, but Jefferson had some IM winners that the scores hadn't been posted yet. 

Sadie's Dance Recital was Saturday in Cedar Rapids.  I drove over for the day.  She loves her dance and it shows!  She was in two numbers and the finale.  Teresa and Hilary had been in Cedar Falls looking for housing for Hil this fall and picked up some cupcakes at a shop there.  We had a "parking lot" picnic and sampled them all.
