Perk up flowers

Grandma Phoebe has been doing poorly. Marg sent perk-up roses. We got her medication changed and she is doing a bit better, but not eating enough to keep her going. She had her tray in her room when I got there today. She had stirred and fixed everything, but hadn't eaten. No appetite. Her B/P has stayed ok, so far, even after less medication. Here she has her tea fixed, and that is most important!

North Carolina Company

We have enjoyed our second edition of North Carolina company. It is coming to an end. Ruth, Len and Honey plan to head east after seeing Mom again in the morning. Tonight they are visiting Mary Jane and Jerry. Teresa and Kids were here yesterday afternoon to visit and Teresa stopped this afternoon, when she was heading home after work. Today we called on Hil while she was at work. With Micheal moving to Colorado we are looking forward to seeing them a bit more often.

Buckethead Bash

We returned last night from Mountain Home, Arkansas where we attended the Buckethead Bash. We didn't take our car. Just enjoyed those that were there. Plus visited a dam and caught church on the way home. Saw Marc Hostetler for a visit. (Couldn't be in his town without saying hello.) It was good to get away, but great to be back home.

Men's Program Sunday

The program after Mass Sunday for our 100 year celebration was sponsored by the KC's. It was on the men's contribution to the Parish and all the jobs they took care of. Here Tim is presenting the Knights memorabilia and below are some of the old cassocks. Check out the middle one - it has Matt's name in it.

Busy Genealogy Dept.

We had 71 exhibits entered in the genealogy department at the County Fair yesterday. This morning was judging time. We had a great group of exhibits. There were many Junior entries also. The judge had a hard time determining the winners. She was lenient with the ribbons, not so with the judge of the arts and crafts. She hardly gave any ribbons. As a result I had two photos that placed. Others didn't rate any better.

Really Quiet Around Here

Our North Carolina company just left here for the next destination of their vacation. We had a good time with them here and a great visit. The kids grow and change. Plus it is great fun to watch your kids dealing with their own!!! They played indoors and out, caught lightning bugs, got rides in Pop's car, visited the Bell Tower, and we had relatives here for supper.

Fireworks

We both saw fireworks last night. Me, here and Pop in Boone at the races. Both were good. Of course I had to try to get pictures! They weren't as high as usual. I'm glad I walked up to the hill to watch. It was cool. It isn't often you need a jacket on July 4th while watching fireworks.

July 4th Flowers

Marg sent Mom flowers for the holiday and needed a picture. (Marg should be happy with these!) Mom was out of her room, so I got a picture of the bouquet. Then found Mom down in the dining room playing penny ante. They furnished the pennies you can bet or she would have been too tight to play!

Last Home Swimmeet

Last night they swam against Glidden. We won easily. They swim next Tues. at Perry and then have the conference meet Sat. here. Jeff swam the breast stroke in the medley relay and open and freestyle in the last relay. I think he had 3 seconds. Those older boys switch around and never line up as announced. I'm wondering who the coach will match together for conference. (That is how Jeff started swimming the breast stroke. They had switched around in the last meet and he did well.) She often puts two of the better swimmers with 2 slower or younger swimmers in the relays. I think she is thinking they will work harder. Also they swim the girls at the same time as the boys when they don't have full lanes. They work harder then. They just don't want to be beaten by a girl!

Time Flies

We must be having fun because time sure flies!!!!! We are looking forward to North Carolina company next week. That means I need to get things ready for the county fair entries before they get here. I'll enter both genealogy and photos. ( I may use this photo of our neighbor's rose.) Our printer died. Well not quite, but I wouldn't accept orders from the computer. It works on it's own as a copier just fine. I tried all the tricks I could think of and no go. The new printer installed just fine, so it is now in operation. Calvin had his last Little League game Monday. They had a good year. Jeff's swimming times improve each meet. He had a successful first triathlon Sat. Jobs keep the others busy. Summer activities continue.
