More from the Earlybird Track Meet
It was a chilly night. Hil dressed in layers between jumps. Also had a lucky fleece blanket to wrap up in.
Calvin had a nice warm hat. Anything with Broncos on it, Calvin thinks is great. Jeff is out with tendonitis in his ankle. It started the last track meet. He kept busy keeping the bar in place for the high jumpers. He is anxious to get running again.

More Free Stuff
I've been clearing out again.
These books are some I've collected from garage sales. Some I read and liked, and some I wanted to read. (And some- Who knows) I go to the library and don't need these. I'll offer them to Shirley if I have no other claims first, as she mentioned the HS read program when she took the kids books. I'll ask her about the bride's maid dress too. She works with costumes for the plays.
Yes, I still have some bluejays. (One of these is a music box) These are not quite correct coloring for North America. And I have too many. The Halloween mister is a decent decoration, but don't try the mister with our water. Leaves a white film. The thermos is fine. Just don't need it. The snowmen are too Christmasey and I don't get my snowmen out until I put away nativities.

From the Back of a Closet
I'm digging deeper. This time the closet in the computer room.... Anyone want to claim anything. The gray men's coat is 48 L. Too small for Dan. Doesn't look worn at all. The blue dress must have been a bridemaid's dress. Marked 11/12. May be able to be rebuilt without the sleeves, or someone may want it for the material. The blue, white and no longer 'red', is a wind sock, that has been replaced. The maroon top (Velvet) is marked S. The men's vest - bigger. The maroon dress - 9. Did any adult here ever wear that size?

Marg's Bouquet
Marg sends flowers frequently to Grandma Phoebe. Here she is with her St. Patrick's day balloons and bouquet. One week late, before I got the picture, and they are still in pretty good condition. Mom has a new roommate (Helen Kendall) as of yesterday. She was resting while I was there and with these privacy rules you can't get any information. But when you know the right people: "she is here to gain strength and may return home" (Didn't look very strong today). Marg sent flowers and balloons on St. Valentine's Day too, but I didn't get my camera out to LTC for a picture then.

Free Rent
We have put up our martin house for a few years now. We have never had any martins! The sparrows love it. We clean it out frequently, to no avail. It is open to the sky on the east. We do have some trees fairly close (10 - 15 feet away) on two sides and maybe that is what scares them away. But there are martin houses on the east side of the school that are in the open. (Behind us) I don't notice many martins there. Usually 1 or 2 each year. Maybe this year will be the year. I don't think martins are as tough as they used to be. When I was a kid, they would fight and clear out the sparrows. Spring lake does have quite a colony of martins. That is only a few miles away.

Dodgeball/Fund Raiser
Hil's team were Princesses. They were after the best costume prize. I didn't stay for the finals to see which team won. So I don't know of glamor beat grunge or not. They have various other award also. Hil's team lost their first match and went on to win a couple more before elimination.

Abbey's team were the fire fighters. They looked like they had just finished fighting a fire. I don't know how long or how much work it took to get their hair looking this wild! They had two losses.
____________________________________________________________________________
Jeff's team was the Trojans. (Scranton of course, as they had some of David's old shirts) It was made up of Sophomore and Freshman boys. They had a loss and a couple wins before being eliminated, when it got to single games. A good time was had by all!

DM St. Pat's Day Parade
__________________________________________
__________________________________________
___________________________The dancers were near the beginning. You can see how clear the street was for them to preform. If they would have been later it wouldn't have worked.______________
____________________________________________________________________Toward the half way point of the parade the crowd was out into the street to where the parade could hardly get through. A few times men on golf carts came by warning people to get back to no avail. It even held up the parade, as they had to honk and creep through. They weren't allowed to throw out candy this year to many disappointed people.
They did throw out beads, but the candy they could have thrown over their heads and they would have been farther back. It sure didn't work not to throw candy.

Club volleyball in Bondurant
My day was spent at the volleyball tourney. I enjoy watching the girls. They did well and not as well. There were 16 teams and the finals will be tomorrow. Hil's team had some players missing and one brought up from the 17 team. Hil (#11) played hitter, as well as setter today. She had a good day. My challenge of the day was to get some block pictures!!! I plan to put a couple pictures on facebook too. Pop had a quiet day at home.
